From the Royal Mews to Royal Djurgården?
The Swedish weekly magazine Svensk Damtidning this week reports that Princess Madeleine may be thinking of moving. According to their unnamed sources the Princess has been looking for a larger place to live for some time and now has her eyes set on two houses located in beautiful nature on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm…
A large wooden house from the turn of the last century, painted in green with large windows and a big garden plus a sea view, should be the peak of her interest. The only problem is that the property already has tenants. But that doesn’t stop the plans completely, the magazine goes on to write that the Royal Court has made inquiries with the current tenants to see if they could consider giving up their contracts with the Royal Djurgården Administration and instead be given an alternate place of residence. When Svensk Damtidning called the tenants, a man who lives in one of the houses with his family sounds surprised and has not heard of the plans, while the tenant in the other house has heard of it. The elderly man told their reporter:
- We have heard of the plans in an indirect way. We have full understanding for this and have no plans to cause any problems. Because we are now so old we don’t want to block the Princess. But we don’t know anything yet. It’s an unwritten page how the Royal House will go about it. And we haven’t had any direct offer of an alternate place to live. Our three children have grown up in this idyllic place. It’s a fantastic place and a wonderful place for a children’s family to live at.
Princess Madeleine currently resides in an apartment located at the Royal Mews in the posh city part Östermalm in Stockholm, just a stone’s throw from The Royal Dramatic Theatre and all the exclusive restaurants and shops she could wish for. Royal Djurgården is only a short walk away as well, with a bridge taking pedestrians or cars over the water to the beautiful island that was once a royal hunting park but is today mainly a recreational area that houses beautiful walking paths and endless places to see and visit. A few of those are Stockholm’s amusement park Gröna Lund, The Thielska Gallery, the Skansen Open Air Museum, Rosendal Palace, Liljevalch’s Art Gallery, the Nordic Museum, Astrid Lindgren’s storytelling world in miniature format Junibacken, the famous horticultural meeting place Rosendal’s Garden, Prince Eugen’s home and today museum Waldemarsudde and The Vasa Museum. Djurgården is also the home of Princess Lilian.
If this is true or not we will have to wait and see, no official comments s are given on private matters.

I’m so jealous of Madeleine! What a lovely place to live. But moving there at 26 is quite early…sounds like marriage, children, all that…;-)
